The Beauty of Ocean Treasure...

Beautiful new handmade ring design from Summer Collection 2013
My journey for ocean treasures is often a quest for perfection. The perfect treasure with a perfect shape, beholding the perfect color, pattern or finish. The truth is, the flaws, grains, inclusions and abundant textures are what display the characteristics of a genuine treasure. This quest for perfection continues on in my studio, where I can thoughtfully create a beautiful design with my jewelry.  My favorite example of perfection is this rare Sea glass pebble, simply set in hand forged pure metal. A true Ocean Gem on full display, where its genuinely rare beauty is visible to the adoring eye...Aloha

Finders Keepers...Treasures of Aloha 2011

Magic happens when I set eyes on a treasure in the sand...my heart actually still skips a beat when I find that special piece of sea glass, sea pottery, sea shell or drift wood. Now as a professional collector, I am simply in awe when I find treasures that are alike...either in shape, color, texture or type. I seek out  this moment ...to find, collect and treasure, all things that are similar over time. Just as this shell pendant above, found at a sea glass location in Hawaii, it is a naturally tumbled shell found in a sea glass pile. Over time, the glass fragments embed into the shell creating this amazingly beautiful and rare find. I was fortunate to find 8 of these unusual island shells last year and one can currently be found as pendant on a beautiful necklace at all Sand People locations. Who ever is fortunate enough to have this treasure, holds some sweet Aloha in 2011...Happy New Year!

Love, Lychee & Lilikoi...

As the summer season comes to an end, I found myself inspired by all the things that I treasure about being in Hawaii. The tropical trade winds breezing over my sun kissed skin, the fragrance of Plumeria in the air and the abundance of local fruits that satisfy my daily cravings. This last collection of the season consists of Seafoam sea glass, Puka shells from the east side of Kauai and hand wrapped Tangerine coral drop charms on a fine, faceted Italian silver chain...Aloha.

Summer Collection 2010

Along with my chosen profession of jewelry design, I also have been blessed with the talent of contemporary basketry. I am a master of all kinds of "Sailors" knots and with this design I chose to incorporate the technique of "French Knotting", creating a fresh and organic look for this Sea Glass Lei...Aloha

The Natural Wonder Of Hawaiian Sea Glass

The uniquely different quality of the sea glass found in the Hawaiian Islands from the sea glass found on the Mainland shores, is that it is tumbled on the lava and on the coral reefs that surround each island. Along with the strong circular currents and high salt content of the tropical Pacific waters, this process gives the glass a very distinct "rounded" shape and a highly frosted textured surface. On my continual journey's throughout Hawaii, I am fortunate to find perfect  tear drop shapes, true pebble forms and many varieties of colors.  To me, this is what constitutes the "gem quality" of this kind of sea glass, making my hand collected treasures an extremely special and rare find...
